Fakolujo explained that the Board will commence with the disbursement of N205,790,000 to 416 fresh and 565 subsequent Local Scholarship Beneficiaries, including both Masters and Doctorate degree students, while N218,795,000 would be disbursed to 6,411 bursary, fresh and subsequent beneficiaries.
He opined that financial awards to the students are geared towards accelerating the educational advancement of Lagos State indigenes in line with the T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda of Governor Sanwo-Olu-led administration for qualitative and affordable education to Lagosians irrespective of their status in life.
His words: “Today’s ceremony is not only to show the Government’s concern and passion for the youths, but also to make this administration accountable to the good people of Lagos, as well as in the fulfilment of the State Government’s promise of making education accessible and affordable at all levels”.
Earlier in her welcome address, Mrs. Tinuola Idowu, Director ScholarshipDepartment, stated that in line with the strategic developmental agenda of the current administration of which education and technology is a key pillar, the Governor has shown his administration’s strong belief in supporting human capacity development and welfare.
Idowu hinted that the State Government Scholarships Scheme is not just about receiving cash alerts but also about supporting the students through a journey to reach their potential.
